Now, the second phase of Frida is set to spread snow across parts of the mid-South and mid-Atlantic as a low-pressure system tracks across these areas. The National Weather Service has issued winter weather alerts for several locations, including from Nashville, Tennessee, to the northwest suburbs of Atlanta, Roanoke, Virginia, and the Washington, D.C. metro.
Much of the storm should be over with by late Monday or Monday evening as the low-pressure system tracks out to sea.One reason is there will be a race between colder air arriving soon enough in order to overlap with enough moisture for the storm to produce snowfall in some locations. Also, the track of the low could mean a large gradient in snow totals will exist along the northern edge of where the storm tracks, namely in the mid-Atlantic.
