Wilson back for tonight’s game at Langley Thunder

Casey Wilson kept eyes on the pitch in winning the silver medal with Canada on Saturday at the world field lacrosse championship in San Diego. But in the dorm, the eyes were on the computer, watching the Victoria Shamrocks grind to a four-game losing skid without him in the Western Lacrosse Association.

“It’s a privilege any time you get to put on the Canadian jersey — national team play is the highest achievement in sports — and it’s something I will never forget,” said Wilson. Wilson was also part of the Canadian team that lost to the U.S. in the championship game of the under-21 worlds last year in Limerick, Ireland. The Juan de Fuca Minor Lacrosse Association and Victoria Junior Shamrocks graduate plays NCAA field lacrosse for the University of Denver and just missed making the NCAA tournament after a season finale loss to the Georgetown Hoyas.

“I came up playing box, so it’s more natural to me,” said Wilson. “It’s more an adjustment for me in going from box to field, especially with the switch of positions.”
