Lawmakers hope the service will prevent Cedar City from drilling bad test wells.
Cedar City has hired Willowstick Technologies to help find the city new sources of water.Willowstick Technologies will soon begin analyzing lightning strike data and measuring gamma emissions in Iron County’s search for new water sources. Cedar City Council members approved an agreement withto pinpoint and map prospective high-yield water source locations where the city can drill test wells, March 23.
One of the project’s goals is to stabilize the city’s aquifer and continue supporting a quickly growing population, Mayor Garth Green said at the “H20 Today” exhibit at Frontier Homestead State Park, March 4. “People really like to live in places where there’s not enough because it’s dry and hot,” he said. “They’re coming here in droves – a thousand houses a year and we can’t keep up.
