Bryan Singer’s Valkyrie tells the real-life story of the failed attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler during World War II, but why did the plot fail?
Bryan Singer’s 2008 film Valkyrie examines the plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler, but, unfortunately, the plot failed. The true story of Operation Valkyrie is, oddly enough, not one of the wider known elements of World War II. In fact, the plot – which was conceived of by members of the German army and civilians - seems fantastical on so many levels that it was well suited for a Hollywood adaptation starring Tom Cruise as one of the key conspirators, Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg.
The Valkyrie Assassination Bombs Didn't Explode Properly As a key member of Hitler’s staff, Stauffenberg was particularly capable of getting close enough to perform the assassination attempt. The decision was made to enact Operation Valkyrie at a briefing that involved Hitler on July 20th, 1944. Straight from the start, the plan did not fare well.
