Tshwane executive mayor Randall WIlliams resigns: Embattled mayor had been under pressure over the city’s adverse audit opinion in 2021-2022
executive mayor of Tshwane, has resigned from the post he has held since October 2020 with effect from midnight on Monday.
Williams, who was re-elected in November 2021, survived a no-confidence motion last year, but has been under renewed pressure to step down over his administration’s performance in handling the city’s finances. Williams added that he did not want the “political instability that has taken place in Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni to spill over into Tshwane”.
