The decision to remove hundreds of examples of language that could be deemed offensive in the latest editions of Roald Dahl’s works has provoked a furious row, with the author’s publishers accused of censorship 📚 adamsherwin10 explains

However, the Roald Dahl Story Company said the language review began in 2020 before the Netflix acquisition. “When publishing new print runs of books written years ago, it’s not unusual to review the language used alongside updating other details including a book’s cover and page layout.”The Puffin edits appear to have gone well beyond removing racial slurs and misogynistic references. Whole sentences have been added in an attempt to ape Dahl’s style.
