Nine out of 10 members of The National Education Union – the UK’s largest education union –The strikes, which the union says will affect 23,400 schools, will take place on February 1, 14, 28 and March 1, 2, 15 and 16 March in different locations.
Education Secretary Gillian Keegan has said she will meet with union leaders later this week, but that she is “extremely disappointed” by the action.When and where are the strikes taking place? The Association of School and College Leaders , which represents 22,000 school and college leaders from across the UK, is consulting its members on whether to strike.The NEU, which represents teaching staff, supply and agency teachers and teaching assistants, is calling for a pay rise in line with inflation and for the pay increases to be fully funded, so that it doesn’t come out of school budgets.
