Naturena is eerily quiet as pre-season preparations get underway in earnest at Kaizer Chiefs. Where is everybody?
Nine players are reportedly not in training yet. Namely, Keagan Dolly, Siyethemba Sithebe, Njabulo Ngcobo, Sifiso Hlanti, Tebogo Potsane, George Matlou, Edmilson Dove, Edson Castillo and Jasond Gonzalez. Midfielders Matlou and Potsane are carrying injuries. Castillo and Dove are away with their countries on international duty.
Keagan Dolly and Siyethemba Sihebe’s contracts expire at the end of this month and it’s unclear whether either will be with the club next term. The same is true for club skipper Itumeleng Khune. The 37-year-old made his PSL debut for Amakhosi against Jomo Cosmos in August 2007. In the 17 years that have elapsed, he has scoopedwith the Glamour Boys, including three DStv Premiership crowns in 2005, 2013 and 2015. This guy was also PSL Footballer of the Year in 2013.
“I hope to attend the Throne Cup final, God Almighty willing. I learned from friends of mine inside Raja some time ago about the final date and it was said that it will be the 30th of this month. Therefore, before I leave for Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa to have my experience with them, I hope to supervise the Royal Army and I will be crowned with them in the Throne Cup final,” Nabi said in his post-match press conference after the semifinal win.
