Nationwide is permanently moving a chunk of its employees to remote work. We talked to the CEO about what that means for operations at the insurance giant.
amid an ongoing global pandemic that has so far claimed tens of thousands of lives.
The new environment is going to create winners and losers, according to Walker. And while he intends to make sure Nationwide is the former, that won't come from just cutting costs. "It spurred some of the greatest innovations in our history," he said. "We're challenging our people to come up with new solutions to things. It just can't buckle down. You've got to buckle down, but plan for the future.""If you are not digital, if you haven't embraced technology, then you'll be one of the losers, not one of the winners," Walker said.
"The world's going to change and change permanently. People are being forced to experience more of a digital world, said Walker. "We've been on the path already. This just pushed the old fast-forward button."
