The officials experienced communication problems as Liverpool's match should have got underway
Liverpool's Premier League match against West Ham experienced a brief delay as referee Chris Kavanagh experienced a communications issue.
As the match is not being televised in the United Kingdom, that would have only added to the confusion for those waiting on updates outside of the ground. The referee wears a microphone and earpiece in order to remain in constant contact with his assistants and fourth officials, who today are Mat Wilkes, Mark Scholes and Craig Pawson. It is also a requirement in order to discuss matters with the VAR and his assistant at Stockley Park, who for today's match are David Coote and Nick Greenhalgh.
