Andy Murray admits he is ‘ready now’ to retire as he plays in his final tennis tournament
Andy Murray announced ahead of the Paris Olympics that he would be retiring following the games. The Scotsman, who is competing in the men's doubles, confirmed he would call time on his career as he looked to go out at the top.
“Competing for have been by far the most memorable weeks of my career and I’m extremely proud to get do it one final time!” Murray was recently robbed of a Wimbledon farewell in the singles after he had surgery on a spinal cyst just a week before the tournament began. The 37-year-old, who spent 41 weeks at world number one throughout his career, told the BBC that he had been tempted the idea of retirement a few times in the past. But he stated that this time has been an easier decision saying: " I am ready now that is going to help.As he reflected on his career by adding: "I loved being part of the British team at the Olympics.
