My classmates and alumni at other colleges know this is the answer to the problem. So what prevents change? Well, for starters, reunions. Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, most alumni are inclined to view their alma mater as an ethical actor. The culprit is the"affect heuristic," a mental shortcut that leads people to make quick judgments, without seeking information, based on their association with a stimulus.
