Bob Brody, an author and Fair Lawn native, says he still admires gorgeous pyrotechnic spectacles every Independence Day. But he has also come to realize later in life what else those fireworks actually mean. They simulate the explosions of modern warfare. They symbolize the swagger of military might.Back in my suburban hometown of Fair Lawn, our family of four went every Fourth of July to our local municipal pool to observe the fireworks.
