weird that no one has formally jumped in against Preston, but it’s definitely a little weird. Past elections offer helpful clues for would-be challengers about when they’d realistically need to start campaigning. Matt Haney, now a California assemblymember, won an open Board of Supervisors seat in the 2018 election after originally filing paperwork to run in September 2017.
Not so in District 5. It’s all the more baffling that would-be challengers are giving Preston this much runway: He has “I think the anti-renter, pro-billionaire policies of GrowSF and Elon Musk are what is wildly out of step here. We just held town halls around the district, and the response to our work is extremely positive in the real world, totally different from all the online attacks. We work everyday with people from the district making real changes that benefit small businesses, neighborhoods, vulnerable renters and transit riders.
