John Wick 4 writer Shay Hatten explains why a young John Wick movie isn't likely to happen, even if it would certainly be a lot of fun.
A young John Wick prequel isn't likely if one of the writers has his way. The John Wick films picked up after Wick's career as the Baba Yaga has already come to an end with the assassin's retirement. Though he is eventually forced back into the fight, viewers never had the chance to see Wick hunting down enemies in his prime.

To me, that's like trying to cast the young Han Solo. It's just so iconic and hard to fill. And again, I really do think what's so fascinating about the character of John Wick is that everybody involved in these movies might have a different idea of what his specific backstory is.
A Young John Wick Movie Isn't Necessary Keanu Reeves is John Wick. He has mastered the character and shown off exactly who Wick is at his core, while also keeping him in the fight and adding an element of charisma that can't be surpassed. A younger Wick could have an admirable attempt, but it will be practically impossible to live up to Reeves' Wick.
