Netflix’s docuseries Harry & Meghan hears from friends who reveal never-before-heard details about the couple’s lives
Netflix has released the final three episodes of its highly-anticipated documentary exploring the lives of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The six-part series details the entire span of the couple’s six-year relationship, from their courtship to recent times which saw them controversially step down as senior members of the Royal Family.
Appearing in the final episode of the series is Hollywood mogul Tyler Perry. The American actor-comedian reveals how he got to know the royal couple and how he aided their move to the US after they left the UK. Who is Tyler Perry? The 53-year-old is best known for creating and performing the character Madea, an elderly yet tough African-American woman he has portrayed in many plays, films and TV shows since 1999. His acting credits also include the 2009 Star Trek remake, David Fincher’s 2014 thriller Gone Girl and the 2021 climate change satire Don’t Look Up.
He was also included in Time’s list of the 100 most influential people of 2020. During Harry and Meghan’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, the couple confirmed it was a Los Angeles mansion owned by Perry they lived in when they left Canada for the US, days before the first Covid lockdown. They would go on to buy a home in nearby Montecito, but explained to Winfrey how Perry provided them with security after their UK tax payer-funded protection was removed.
