Phil has dozens of television shows under his belt, but is perhaps best known for playing Grandad Trotter in the Only Fools and Horses prequel, Rock & Chips, Kevin Wicks in EastEnders and Jimmy Cooper in Quadrophenia. He also starred in the music video for Parklife by Blur!
What is his role in Call the Midwife? In the upcoming episode of Call the Midwife Phil plays George, a 60-year-old man who lives on a street marked for demolition, but doesn't want to leave as it means that he will be separated from his beloved pigeon, Dot. We think this one might be a bit of a heartbreaker!
In the rest of the episode, Sister Julienne volunteers Nonnatus House to take part in a new training programme that will help doctors with an obstetrics diploma, and Dr Turner and Sister Julienne hope that it will remind the council of the importance of Nonnatus House to the community.
