Republican Rep. George Santos’s victory in the 2022 midterms helped the GOP secure a slim majority in the House of Representatives. Now, the freshman lawmaker’s credentials are in question after a number of reports emerged highlighting discrepancies in his resume.Santos was elected in November to represent New York’s third congressional district, flipping the seat for Republicans.
Santos is the first openly gay, non-incumbent Republican to win a congressional seat.On Monday, a New York Times report called into question Santos’s previous employment at two Wall Street firms, Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, neither of which have a record of him working there. Santos’s supposed alma mater, Baruch College, also has no record of him attending. The report also found no IRS record of Santos’s animal rescue organization.
