The Vancouver Whitecaps, looking to win their first Major League Soccer game of the season, will have their hands full Friday with the visiting L.A. Galaxy.
7 p.m., B.C. Place Stadium, TV: TSN; Radio: TSN 1040 AMThe Vancouver Whitecaps’ midfielder is the engine that drives his winless team’s attack, leading his Major League Soccer side with two key passes and 2.5 shots per game. But he’ll be up against one of the best midfielders in the game in dos Santos, who has team-highs in tackles , interceptions , accuracy , passes per game and is second in key passes .All eyes are on Zlatan Ibrahimovic — or more specifically, his Achilles.
So even if B.C. Place has a reputation — deserved or undeserved — of being one of the worst in MLS, it would figure that he plays Friday. “I mean, I cannot focus different or change anything. Even if it’s on turf, I have to keep doing what I’m doing and prepare in the way I always play.”The Galazy have fired 55 shots to Vancouver’s 46 this season, but the on-target margin — 15-13 — is much closer. The Caps are allowing 17 shots overall per game, 14.5 at home, both tops in MLS, but the Galaxy haven’t been that effective on the road, only averaging one shot on goal per game.
