Former Springbok coach Jake White and the triumphant 2007 Rugby World Cup squad, captained by John Smit, were inducted into the SA Hall of Fame on Wednesday night.

Joining the ranks of the legendary 1995 World Cup-winning squad, led by Francois Pienaar, White’s men were honored in Johannesburg at the Montecasino ceremony.

White, currently at the helm of the Vodacom Bulls as director of rugby, masterminded the Boks’ second Webb Ellis Cup victory. The Springboks etched their mark into South Africa’s sporting history with a 15-6 win over England in the final hosted at the Stade de France in Paris. By dotting down eight times, Bryan Habana equalled Jonah Lomu’s record for most tries in a World Cup tournament.“Their outstanding achievements and relentless pursuit of excellence have not only left an indelible mark on South African rugby but have also united the entire country in celebration,” the statement added.
