Whisky distilleries face sales ban in Scotland after ignoring deposit return scheme registration
Whisky distilleries face being unable to sell their products in Scotland after a third of them failed to sign-up for a controversial recycling scheme.
Blair Bowman, a whisky industry consultant, told the Record: "Most drinks businesses I have spoken to have not signed up.Dougal Sharp, the founder of the Innes & Gunn brewery, also announced his company would not register for the DRS. “We have invested huge amounts of money into planning for the Scheme but it’s just not workable and doomed to failure in its current format"Sturgeon told MSPs that while it was originally estimated as many as 4,500 companies may be required to register, factors such as group registrations could reduce that to "below 2,000".
