Where is former Junior Springbok star Wandile Mjekevu now?

Wandile Mjekevu was once regarded as one of the most promising young rugby players in South Africa. We take a look at where he is now.

Wandile Mjekevu once seemed destined for a prolific senior rugby career, having earned a number of call-ups toHe was selected in a South African Under-18 Elite Squad as well as the final South African Schools squad in 2008. The following year he was included in a South African Under-18 High Performance Squad, while he was a prominent member of the South Africa Under-20 team that played in the 2010 and 2011 IRB Junior World Championships.

After taking up a senior contract with the Lions, he scored a stunning hat-trick in just his second Super 14 game for the franchise, but not long after Mjekevu returned to his hometown of Durban to join the Sharks.With Mjekevu battling to break into the first-choice Sharks squad, he played some club rugby for the Durban-based College Rovers before signing a deal to join French Top 14 side Perpignan in 2013.

In 2015, Mjekevu returned to South Africa for a second stint with the Sharks. However, after again failing to secure a regular spot, he was loaned to the Southern Kings for the remainder of the season.
