The mammoth showdown has been marred by ticket spats in recent years but an agreement has been found.
Rangers have revealed the sections Celtic supporters will be housed as away fans get set to return to Scottish football's marquee fixture next season.
The mammoth showdown has been marred by ticket spats in recent years with multiple contests taking place with only home punters in attendance. Celtic supporters are set to receive around 2,500 away tickets at Ibrox – the same total covering the same sections as Borussia Dortmund had in February 2022. Both sides dished out around 7,500 briefs to their rivals until Rangers announced in May 2018 that they were slashing that allocation to around 10 per cent of that total.
But now a truce has been reached with the SPFL keen to end the match broadcast around the world to take place with only home fans in attendance. And the Ibrox side have explained where Celtic supporters will be placed under a new Europa League style allocation. A Rangers statement read: "Rangers FC notes the SPFL’s confirmation regarding future Old Firm allocations at both Ibrox and Parkhead.
"While this will not affect the two remaining league derbies this season, from next season, both clubs will be required to provide five per-cent of their stadia to the away team for Old Firm games only — mirroring the UEFA European match model. Rangers’ position has always been for away supporters to be present at these games, and with this move, a significant number of our fans will be able to support our team at Parkhead in seasons ahead.
"At Ibrox, this will affect supporters in sections BF5 and BR5, as well as part of BF4 and BR4 in the Broomloan Stand, as it would for European matches. Alternative seating arrangements for supporters in these sections for Old Firm derbies have been identified and those affected will be contacted directly by the club."
