Environment Canada meteorologists said the city can expect a brief break after thunderstorms overnight Sunday and Monday with temperatures dipping to 23 C Tuesday before heating back up again.

Looking for a break from the heat and humidity? Toronto residents can expect the city to cool down slightly after rainfall early in the week, meteorologists said., with temperatures up to 32 C feeling more like 41 C with the humidity. Environment Canada meteorologists Monica Vaswani and David Phillips both said the city would see more comfortable summer days after rainfall early in the week.

“It’s going to feel much more comfortable,” she said. “You’re going to be able to get outside without feeling that oppressive heat and that oppressive stickiness.” “There’s always a rule in weather: what you see is what you’re going to get. It’s called persistence, and there’s nothing in the models to suggest that this will not continue,” Phillips said. “My sense is that summer is not over yet.”

“The stickier it is, the more potential you have to bring some of that moisture in the form of rain down to the surface,” Vaswani said.
