Taking care of the basketball: That's today's lesson for the Spurs as they get ready for the Grizzlies.
Ever since the NBA schedule was released in August, Spurs point guard Tre Jones had Wednesday’s game against Memphis circled on his calendar.Anyone who knows the Jones family tree knows why this contest is important to him.
If only Jones’ season résumé stopped there. Unfortunately, Jones also happens to be the point guard on the NBA’s most turnover-prone team. “They got that part down,” Popovich said. “Now taking care of the ball, making decisions, understanding where the ball should be … those things take a little bit more time.”
They committed a season-high 24 turnovers against Denver, which the Nuggets converted into 35 points.
