People have eaten pancakes on Shrove Tuesday for generations but there's a less well known tradition for the Monday
Pancake Day is a popular tradition that has been carried out for centuries. Coming the day before the start of Lent in the Christian calendar, people turn their hand to flipping pancakes and enjoying their efforts with a host of different toppings.
Over the years people have continued the tradition which has seen people not only eating their creations but communities holding pancake races as part of the fun. But there is a lesser-known tradition which comes a day earlier. One way came from Roman missionaries, and the other came from the Irish tradition. While both were worked out using the moon, they were calculated differently, meaning that there were two different dates for Easter every year!
