Michael Keaton first played the caped crusader in Tim Burton’s game-changing Batman , which successfully reinvented the character after the campiness of the 1966 Batman serial. Burton and Keaton would then reunite for Batman Returns , but neither of them returned for Batman Forever.
The Flash’s original ending included Michael Keaton, who would have become part of the new timeline created by Barry Allen. In other words, by the time Barry went back to his universe, things would be similar yet different. Rather than Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne, Barry would now be in a world where Michael Keaton’s Bruce Wayne was Batman all along. Likewise, Sasha Calle’s Supergirl would have been part of this timeline as well, although it is unclear if the DCEU’s Superman would still exist.
DC's Canceled Batgirl Movie One of the biggest missed opportunities of DC’s failed Michael Keaton return is the canceled Batgirl movie. Originally eying a late 2022 release, Batgirl was scrapped in August 2022 by Warner Bros. Discovery, reportedly for a tax write-off. The Batgirl movie, which cost $70 million and had already wrapped, was going to be released on HBO Max and not in theaters. Leslie Grace would have been the DCEU’s Batgirl in a film that would have seen the return of J.K.
Batman Beyond Could Have Happened After The Flash According to Kevin Smith , who spoke with a relative of a long-time Batman movie producer, a Batman Beyond film starring Michael Keaton was in the cards. However, for this live-action Batman Beyond movie to happen, The Flash would have to have an opening weekend as big as The Batman’s.
