Toronto has lots of fun on offer this weekend from tennis to concerts to a visit with King Tut. Here’s a sampling:The WTA has returned to Toronto for the National Bank Open. Canada’s premier tennis tournament is on now through Sunday at Sobeys Stadium. It’s an exciting year for the tournament that has drawn many big tennis stars to the city including Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, Bianca Andreescu and Iga Swiatek.
The quarterfinals take place Friday, with the semifinals on Saturday, and on Sunday, the winner will be decided in the finals, which start at 1:30 p.m. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen and a hat — all courts are outdoors with minimum shade in the grandstands. Outside the court, enjoy an “immersive festival fan experience” with 15 acres of festival grounds offering retail, dining and live entertainment. Recharge and cool down at the Rogers fan hub, get a pint at Mill Street Brewery and walk by the practice courts to get a glimpse of your favourite players. Bringing the kids? Check out Rogers mini tennis and have the little ones try their hand on the court.
