Meta’s Twitter alternative Threads has got off to a momentous start, partly because it’s tied to Instagram with its billions of subscribers, and partly because it’s. But once the excitement fades, you may notice Threads is a surprisingly bare-bones app.
But what happens once people get settled? It’s tiring to see a bunch of stuff you have no interest in, but suggestions are vital to engagement and that feeling of a vibrant community. On Instagram, posts from follows are mixed liberally with ads and suggested content, whereas Twitter and TikTok have two separate feeds; one that focuses on follows and one on suggestions.
