Ontario education minister orders boards to allow parents in uniform in schoolsdates back to a 2021 board decision to cancel its school resource officer program. “While we recognize that there exists a need to improve relationships and rebuild trust between the OPS and certain communities, we feel education has a role in improving those relationships,” said the board in a statement. “We continue to have police officers do presentations in our schools, and we also provide opportunities for building and strengthening relationships with meetings between student organizations such as school Black student associations and the OPS.”The Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario, which has 44 French-language public schools between Trenton and Cornwall, including Ottawa, does not have a uniform policy for visitors, said a spokesperson.
