Siba the Standard Poodle has just been crowned America’s top dog at the 144th edition of the Westminster Kennel Club’s annual competition, dethroning King the Wire Fox Terrier .
Siba also trounced Conrad the Shetland Sheepdog , Wilma the Boxer and Vinny the Wire Fox Terrier —not to mention crowd favorite Daniel the Golden Retriever and Bono the Havanese .Crowd favorite Daniel the Golden Retriever placed first in the Sporting category.Last year's Reserved Best in Show, Bono the Havanese was once again victorious in the Toy class.
This year's expanded three-day affair—which kicked off at Pier 94 and culminated at Madison Square Garden—saw more than 2,600 canines of 204 breeds . The competitors came from 49 states in the U.S. and 19 other countries—among them Australia, Lithuania, Thailand, Sweden, and Chile.
