Western Cape's first COVID-19 patient isolated, at home eNCA
Western Cape healthcare facilities say they're ready should more cases of COVID-19 be confirmed.
South Africa has 13 reported cases of the novel coronavirus, all from people who had recently travelled to countries where the virus has spread.Western Cape premier Alan Winde said of their single patient:"He presented himself to private healthcare, with symptoms, he was concerned. 48 hours he was confined and the tests came back as positive, he is now self-isolated back at home."
Western Cape Department Head Dr Beth Engelbrecht said if a patient is positive already that is when he is isolated. " If they need hospitalisation, we hospitalise them in that ward depending on what that need is but the private hospitals are also working with us."- Coronavirus Hotline Number: 0800 029 999 from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday
