Local star Kim Chapman tells of her acting journey from West Lothian youth theatre to a role in Irvine Welsh’s hit TV show

A talented actress has revealed how she went from humble beginnings at West Lothian Youth Theatre to a role in the latest Irvine Welsh drama.

Kim will also be back on our screens next year, when she stars in new BBC drama Nightsleeper and has also appeared in Game of Thrones, Shetland and Agatha Christie drama The Pale Horse. And she said it was “a dream come true” when Irvine Welsh was so impressed with her performance that she landed a bigger role in Crime, thanks in part to her varied career that’s also seen her perform as burlesque alter ego, Missy Malone.

Growing up in Livingston, Kim moved down south 15 years ago but returned to Scotland to work in its thriving film and TV industry. “I was a bit of a lost kid, I was dyslexic and found school really difficult, the art teachers encouraged me to look at art college.
