EP Brian Gray talks to us about WerewolfByNight's MCU future: “I don't know that [Jack] has a grand plan of what to do next... I hope that we will see them again, but I don't know that either [Jack or Elsa] yet knows exactly where their path is leading.”
Executive producer Brian Gray discusses whether Jack Russell and Elsa Bloodstone have a future in the MCU following Marvel Studios' Werewolf By Night. Phase 4 of the MCU will be coming to an end in November with the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but before that, Marvel is taking a dive into the world of horror and monsters with the release of Werewolf By Night on Disney+.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Werewolf By Night follows a group of hunters who are brought together following the death of their leader, Ulysses Bloodstone. They decide to hold a contest to determine his worthy successor and to collect a mysterious artifact that holds a supernatural power. Unsurprisingly, the contest does not go according to plan. Werewolf By Night features Gael Garcia Bernal as Jack Russell, the titular Werewolf, and Laura Donnelly as monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone.
"What I will say is we put it at the end of that, that both Jack and Elsa are totally changed and in a space that they did not expect to find themselves in. I would love to see them both pop up, but I'm gonna be honest with you, you saw Jack, I don't think he knows where he's going tomorrow, I don't know that he has a grand plan of what to do next.
Where Werewolf by Night Could Return In MCU Werewolf By Night was pitched to Kevin Feige by film composer Michael Giacchino and Marvel Studios head was very surprised at the concept. Giacchino had previously directed short films, one of which was an episode of Star Trek Short Treks, but Werewolf By Night marks his first feature.
Already, the first reactions and reviews of Werewolf By Night indicate that Marvel has produced another hit. As such, Marvel is sure to consider bringing these characters back in some form or another. With Werewolf By Night introducing the realm of monsters into the MCU, there is no doubt they will be looking to have Jack and Elsa make a return as well.
