Environment Canada has put out two highway alerts in Banff and Jasper national park as up to 25 centimetres of snow was forecast Monday.

The alerts, which went live just before 5 a.m. Monday morning, said a long period of heavy, wet snow will continue over higher elevations. Snow levels are expected to be between 1,300 to 1,700 metres. Meanwhile, Alberta511 also said Monday travel isn’t recommended on a portion of the Columbia Icefields Parkway due to hazardous conditions.
