Key changes include the new powertrain and infotainment system, both shared with Toyota’s big Tundra pickup, redesigned for the 2022 model year. Interior quality steps up, especially in the new $76,895 Sequoia Capstone. I like the infotainment system’s intuitive menus and layout, a large 14-inch screen standard in all but the base model. That may be reason to upgrade to the $66,295 Limited model, but SR5 does come with a solid lineup of standard features and driver-assistance tech.
The interior has been refined over the years, but never has been fancy. Its utilitarian design matches 4Runner’s mission. Four-wheel drive is an option or standard on all models, but I don’t know why someone would want a two-wheeler given better options for vehicles that don’t stray from city streets.
