The man is fighting for his life after the crash between an Audi TT and a private hire taxi
Wedding guests were among those who rushed to help a man after he was hit by a car on the Strand in Liverpool.
One man said he had just left a wedding party at popular venue Oh Me Oh My, which faces on to the Strand, and was trying to get a taxi home when he witnessed the crash. He told the ECHO: "We were coming out of a wedding party in front of Oh Me Oh My. It happened two metres away - it could have been anyone from our group who got hit really.
The ECHO understands staff members from Oh Me Oh My were among those who helped the victim until paramedics arrived. The witness said two officers asked those helping the victim to shine their phone torches so they could assess his injuries. An ambulance arrived shortly afterwards and paramedics attended to the victim before taking him to hospital.
The Strand remains closed between James Street and Chapel Street and drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
