New technology is being deployed with the aim to make Escambia County Public Schools safer, the school system has announced.
) -
The technology allows for screenings to occur more frequently and to be less intrusive than traditional metal detector searches, according to a news release. Random screenings will be conducted quickly and with minimal interruptions to instructional time. It’s different than a regular metal detector, which MCPSS officials said they tried at a smaller school but it took so long to get all of the students through the entrance that it delayed school start time by almost an hour. Such a system can take around 4,000 people an hour.
