Pepper noted that, at the preliminary inquiry, she was unable to identify Arnold as one of the men who entered her home.
The grandson was living with his grandparents until four months before the kidnapping. Sandra Helm said he left at that point because she had confronted him about a drug problem that was obvious to her. While being cross-examined by Pepper, Helm said her eldest grandson in currently serving a three-year prison term for possession of cocaine.
