The food was worlds away from the fare you usually get at chain pubs and yet it was the same price, if not cheaper
These days, pubs constantly seem to be getting pricier and pricier. Many of the city centre's best drinking spots charge upwards of a fiver just for a pint before you even start thinking about food.
The expansive local beer selection and the buzzing atmosphere make it a regular stop-off whenever going for a few. Only a few, mind you, as like many of the city's other pubs, it's not cheap. We both fancy the fish and chips, but Taylor ends up going for the vegetarian Crispy Cauliflower Tacos , which comes with a side of fries. I go for something I've never really tried - the 'Beer and Lamb' and a side of fries .
Our food came within twenty minutes and on presentation alone, I was won over. I sat and stared in admiration at my plate of lamb - decorated to a Michelin-like standard - for minutes before tucking in. The real star of the show was the battered cauliflower. If it's always this good, I'm not surprised it's their delicacy - I could have eaten a giant plate of that alone.
As I sat, eating the impeccably presented and beautiful tasting food in the cosy, friendly pub, I reminded myself that I'd paid less than £15 for the whole meal, and £6 of that was the drink.
