The Shamrocks fell agonisingly short in a thrilling Antrim SHC final at Corrigan Park on Sunday
The chasm that existed between Cushendall and Loughgiel just last month was reduced to the bare minimum. One solitary point. But for Hugh McCann and his Shamrocks, the extra point was on Cushendall’s tally and their neighbours and rivals returned to North Antrim with the Volunteer Cup following a pulsating 1-20 to 1-19 win at Corrigan Park.
However, a loss is still a loss and this was stung even more than their home loss to the Ruairi Óg’s in early September. While it will take Loughgiel time to recover from the hurt of losing a county final by such small margins, McCann said knows they’ll take encouragement from their progress this season.
“They’ll be back again and I think they made everybody in Antrim sit up and notice them. All I can say at this stage is to thank them.
