Because overdose prevention sites are so controversial, they have been “studied to death,” Martin said during the presentation. Evidence is clear they reduce overdoses, deaths and harm to drug users while reducing social issues like public drug use and needle disposal, he said. Barry first found out when he saw Martin being interviewed in front of the site after it was announced, Barry said.
