The ANC in the Western Cape says the six water tankers that will be distributed are not sufficient to service the affected residents.
CAPE TOWN - The African National Congress in the Western Cape has called on the City of Cape Town to ensure that hospitals and schools are not affected by the three-day water outage hat kicked in on Monday.
This comes after the metro announced that several areas in the city would be without water pending maintenance of water infrastructure network on the Cape Flats. The outage will also affect 22 suburbs in the southern suburbs which include Wynberg, Plumstead, Ottery, Southfield, Retreat, and surrounding areas.The ANC said that the six water tankers that would be distributed were not sufficient to service the affected residents.
"We will engage the MEC for Local Government, Anton Bredell, for provincial government intervention, and the South African Human Rights Commission for thorough oversight. Our councillors in the city will closely monitor the situation and liaise with the city. The ANC stands ready to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure that the needs of our people are met during this challenging time," said ANC Western Cape spokesperson, Khalid Sayed.
