A Costa’s hummingbird, the first recorded in the province, was found in a Saskatoon backyard in October.She said the bird likely lost its way while migrating for the winter. Shadick hopes to get permits that will allow LSWR to return the bird to the wild in the southwest, within its typical range. If permits aren’t possible, Shadick said the organization intends to care for the bird until spring, when it will be released in the southwest corner of the province.
