Rooney has had to deal with a number of difficult issues in his first managerial role with the Rams, with the club's dire financial situation having seen them being placed under a transfer embargo and receiving a 21-point deduction.Despite the troubles the 36-year-old has faced at Pride Park, Derby secured a win over Sheffield United on the weekend to see them move off the foot of the Championship table.
Rooney is not the only name being considered by Everton as Benitez's replacement, though, with his former England teammate Frank Lampard and Belgium boss Roberto Martinez also among the head coaches who could take charge of the Merseyside club next.
