Casey Stoney's club has two more dates in Snapdragon Stadium this year and hopes to be there as well for the NWSL championship match Nov. 11.

For the rest of 2023, neither the regular season nor the postseason can take the Wave out of San Diego. On Sunday, the second-year National Women’s Soccer League club will finish its regular season with a 2 p.m. match against Racing Louisville at Snapdragon Stadium. The Wave will stay home for their postseason semifinals match on Nov. 5. And they would play in Mission Valley once again, on the following Saturday, Nov. 11, if they qualify for the NWSL championship game.

As to why the NWSL chose Snapdragon Stadium as its championship venue, the Wave’s robust crowd support couldn’t have hurt. The club reports 28,000 tickets have been distributed for Sunday’s match. With an NWSL-best average of nearly 20,000 tickets distributed per match, the Wave's average announced crowds are three to four times the announced average of six other NWSL clubs. Wave goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan commends local fans for spicing up the home matches.
