Watford have been accused again of refusing to release one of their players for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. Following this controversial decision, Senegal revealed that Watford are once again refusing to let an African player partake in the AFCON.
report that Claudio Ranieri’s side believes that Ismalia Sarr is currently not fit to play in the prestigious tournament which starts on January 9. The tricky winger is currently sidelined with a knee injury he picked up in November but was still named in the West African side’s squad last month.Despite the call-up, it appears that the country and club are still debating his release which has led to Senegal choosing to go public by releasing a statement to send a warning to the Premier League side."By mail on Friday, December 31, the English club Watford notified on the basis of arguments equally specious as fallacious its decision to block the player Ismaila Sarr, who has expressed his desire to join the Senegalese selection for the next Cup of Nations in Cameroon," said a Senegal Football Federation statement, per"The Senegal Football Federation wishes to express with this communication its deep condemnation of the disrespectful, pernicious and discriminatory behaviour of Watford's hierarchy who look by all means to prevent a player from playing with his national team."
