Watford Community Housing marked World Food Day by donating a large chunk of meals and groceries to area's foodbank.
On Tuesday, October 17, staff brought in food from their different cultures to share with the charity as well as 10 large shopping bags of kitchen cupboard essentials. It was organised by Watford Community Housing’s finance business partner, Richard Walsham, who wanted to share the understanding that many people are in a privileged position to be able to prepare and share food with each other.
He said: “We are incredibly proud to be able to use this national holiday to help families most in need, as well as to celebrate the diverse culture of our workforce."As a community gateway housing association, our tenants and local communities are at the heart of what we do, so when an opportunity arose to support them, our staff jumped at the chance.
“Watford Foodbank is struggling with donations at the moment, and with Christmas coming up the number of families using it will increase. We want to encourage our staff and anyone in the position to do so to continue to help out if they can.”We want our comments to be a lively and valuable part of our community - a place where readers can debate and engage with the most important local issues.
