The rising cost of rent in Toronto has been an ongoing issue in the city, as many residents continue to struggle to find an affordable place to live.showed Toronto has the third highest rents of any city in the country.
In June, that same report found the average asking rent for a one-bedroom in the city — including listings for everything from basement units to new luxury builds — is now $2,572, and more than $3,000 for a two-bedroom. As rent prices across the city continue to climb, the Star asked some Toronto residents to guess the prices of current listings and share their thoughts on affordable housing in the city.
