At 76 years old, legendary German racer Walter Rörhl doesn't have anything to prove to himself, or anyone else. Yet, he still sets a damn impressive lap around the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a new Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Watch the master at work. This video comes from Nürburgring YouTuber Misha Charoudin, who got to sit right-seat while Rörhl took him around the Nordschleife during an event put on by Bilstein. What's always striking watching onboard videos by Rörhl is the look of concentration on the racer's face. It always seems like he's looking four corners ahead, with intense focus. Even on this relatively sedate lap, Rörhl never looks like he's taking it anything less than seriously.
As is his wont, Rörhl times himself around the lap. His watch shows a run from bridge to gantry of around 7:20, which he estimates would translate to an 8:00 lap of the circuit. Well over a minute, but hardly slow either. At the end of the video Rörhl says it's his first time back on the Ring in a few years, and he didn't have the same "fire" on this occasion that he did last time. Still, he's satisfied.
